Israel cleared to compete at 2024 Eurovision
Revised lyrics secure song entry after initial rejection
Eden Golan will represent the nation in Malmö
Israel has been given the green light to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, after organisers confirmed that the lyrics to its entry have been changed.
The country's participation was initially in doubt after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) deemed the lyrics of the song, "Halo," to be too political.
The EBU's rules state that songs submitted to the competition must not contain political messages. However, after the Israeli broadcaster, Kan, revised the lyrics, the song was approved.
Eden Golan will represent Israel in the contest, which will be held in Malmö, Sweden, in May 2024. Golan is a popular singer in Israel and has previously released several hit singles.
